There
are certain watering guidelines for lawns throughout Central Texas. As a homeowner, you want a nice looking
lawn. A beautiful lawn will enhance the
look of the exterior of your home, giving your home great curb appeal.
For
the latter part of the winter and the early onset of spring, which would be
January and February, the rainfall is pretty adequate in the area so not as much
watering is needed. If there is no rain
for 3-4 weeks, it is recommended that you water your lawn.
March,
April and May are spring months in the state.
Rainfall will really depend on the season but you want to water your
lawn about once per week if you see less than an inch of rainfall.
Summer
months are scorchers in Texas . June, July, August and the early part of
September can be hot and downright brutal on your lawn. If there has been less than an inch of
rainfall then you need to heavily water each section of your lawn at the
minimum of twice per week.
Fall
is also known as brown patch season and occurs in the latter half of September
and October. Brown patch season is
mainly triggered by too much watering so reduce the frequency that you water
your lawn during this time of the year.
For the latter half of September you only want to water your lawn once a
week if there has been no rain. In
October, if there has been no rain, only water your lawn twice that month.
